Lead the way as a team manager
Team managers are the heart of each team. They bring people together, help plan and run activities, and keep everyone on track throughout the program. With the partnership of a support organisation, team managers lead the way — organising, promoting, checking in with the team and making sure the program works for their community.
Anyone with strong community ties and a passion for health and wellbeing can step into this role, including local community champions or people working in health services, schools, councils, sports clubs and other community organisations.
Teams can include people of all ages, and can be as big or as small as you like. Successful teams are those with a strong, community-led plan and the right support in place to deliver it.
Registration for Challenge to Change will open in May 2026.

How it works, step by step
Team managers play a key role in bringing their community together for better health. Whether you're applying to join Challenge to Change or using our tools to run your own local program, this guide will help you get started.
Here's a simple overview of the process:
Register as a team manager
Start your journey by registering and letting us know you're keen to lead a team.
Link up with a support organisation
To take part in Challenge to Change, your team needs to partner with a support organisation. Even outside the program, partnering with a local health or community service can boost your team’s impact.
Apply for Challenge to Change (when applications are open)
If you’re wanting to take part in Challenge to Change, submit your application during the official period (May–June), including your team details, program plan and budget.

Being a manager for the Challenge was a rewarding opportunity for me… It allowed Mob to connect, stay active, and build strength—physically, mentally, and socially—while training together and embracing a shared sense of identity and belonging.

I particularly like the flexibility in the funding, to use as needed for our initiatives – not restrictive like other funding can be. I found participants had better overall physical health and wellbeing, also the team was inspiring and connecting with one another.

The promotion of the Challenge helped us to engage with a newer cohort within community and introduce them to our work, programs and services (like an exercise physiologist, dietitian, hearing and eye clinics) but also to meet new friendly community members.

What I like about the Challenge is it’s not about weight anymore. It’s about coming together. For some women, if it wasn’t for this group, they wouldn’t leave home.
