A Deadly health journey, powered by Mob.

Challenge to Change is a community-led, 10-week health program run by Mob, for Mob, right here in NSW. It's all about communities leading the way, with local teams stepping up to run activities that keep their Mob strong and healthy in ways that matter to them. Whether it's strengthening social connections, getting active or eating better, this program is all about supporting each other to make deadly changes, together.

And it doesn't stop after 10 weeks. Everyone has access to a range of online tools, health information, program planning guides and community resources, all designed to help support Mob on their health journeys and plan local programs all year round.

About us

Hear from some of our teams

How the program works

Challenge to Change is a 10-week journey where each team can shape their health program to suit what their Mob needs most. That might include:

  • eating good, healthy tucker
  • moving more
  • improving mental health
  • quitting the smokes or vapes.

Teams are made up of community members of all ages (bring the whole family along!), and each one is led by a deadly team manager. The team manager completes a simple online application in partnership with a support organisation. If the team gets accepted, NSW Health will chat with the team manager to help support the team's plans and arrange funding.

We're always keen to hear feedback. So, each year we visit some of the teams to have a yarn and see their programs. You may be contacted - but it's totally up to you if you want to take part.

Ways to get involved

Applications for Challenge to Change open in May 2026, with places available for up to 60 teams. Once approved, you can start your program anytime before 21 September 2026, and finish your program by 27 November 2026.
Manage a program

Each team has a team manager who applies online in partnership with a support organisation. If your application is accepted, NSW Health will work with you to bring your team's health goals to life.

Support a program

If your organisation wants to support your local community, you can partner with a team and team manager. You'll sign a contract with NSW Health and receive funding to support the team's planned activities.

Participate in a program

Want a healthier lifestyle? Anyone, no matter their age, can submit their interest in joining a Challenge to Change team. You'll also be able to access free resources and other health tools to help you on your journey.
