Formerly the NSW Knockout Health Challenge
We've changed our name to Challenge to Change - a name shaped by Mob, for Mob. Learn more about our story.
Hear from some of our teams
How the program works
Challenge to Change is a 10-week journey where each team can shape their health program to suit what their Mob needs most. That might include:
- eating good, healthy tucker
- moving more
- improving mental health
- quitting the smokes or vapes.
Teams are made up of community members of all ages (bring the whole family along!), and each one is led by a deadly team manager. The team manager completes a simple online application in partnership with a support organisation. If the team gets accepted, NSW Health will chat with the team manager to help support the team's plans and arrange funding.
We're always keen to hear feedback. So, each year we visit some of the teams to have a yarn and see their programs. You may be contacted - but it's totally up to you if you want to take part.
Ways to get involved
Each team has a team manager who applies online in partnership with a support organisation. If your application is accepted, NSW Health will work with you to bring your team's health goals to life.
If your organisation wants to support your local community, you can partner with a team and team manager. You'll sign a contract with NSW Health and receive funding to support the team's planned activities.
Want a healthier lifestyle? Anyone, no matter their age, can submit their interest in joining a Challenge to Change team. You'll also be able to access free resources and other health tools to help you on your journey.

What the Challenge means to me is health, fitness and just life. I've lost 56 kilos over five years, no longer diabetic...Anybody that needs, whether it’s mental health or fitness, should do something like this, because it doesn’t just help your fitness, it helps your mental health as well.

As an Elder, I wanted to maintain my flexibility and bone strength. Before the Challenge, I felt I couldn’t have a go, but now I know I can. Have a go, even if for 10-15 minutes most days!

I just wished the program was going at the beginning of my journey with diabetes. I joined the Challenge to better my journey and improve my blood sugar levels. Do it for yourself, it’s for you!

The Challenge has truly changed my life…I learnt how to fuel my body properly, stay active, and set goals that actually worked for me… Today, I’m a more confident, active, and healthier young woman, and I’m proud of the positive lifestyle changes I’ve made.
